Originally produced for Fairtrade Fortnight 2007 and to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act on 25th March, 1807. Now regular.
Traditionally floor-malted Maris Otter pale ale malt, crystal malt and Kentish hops combine with Fairtrade Demerara sugar to produce a deep golden ale. It is characterised by its mellow bitterness and long hoppy finish.

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 15/09/12. Clear golden with a thin white head that retained well. Pale malt, grain, light citrus and caramel on the nose. Taste marries nose. Lighter end of medium bodied with a fruity finish, Ok stuff.

Cask, at the Wharf. Some lacings are left as the dense, off-white, finger-thick head slides down the glass as the clear, golden beer is drank. Resiny, piney nose with crystal malt caramel-ishness. Some peaches. Citrus, pineapple, peaches and just a little bitterness in the flavor. Caramel maltyness, and a little bitterness towards the end. Smooth and medium bodied. Some American influences in this one, but certainly British. Quite tasteful an easy drinkable. 111008

Cask @ Charlies Bar, Copenhagen. Pours a pale amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty weak hoppy aroma. Fruity malty caramel flavor with hoppy hints. Has a fruity malty hoppy caramel finish.

From cask at Charlies. Pours clear and golden orange with a small tan head. Aroma is frui, light toasted to breadish malty. Mild citric, crisp fruity and light malty. Bitter and lasting fruity finish.

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium amber orange colour with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, light hoppy, fruity, UK yeast. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Bottled. Amber colour, hazy off-white head. Aroma is fruity, nectary, quite fresh grassyness with some quite sweet malts. Flavour is fruits, floral, some mild banana as well as sweet malts. A rather pleasantly balanced and refreshing beer.

Cask at the Grape and Grain, Crystal Palace. Amber pour with a white head. Strawberry and orchard fruit aromas. Fruit filled flavours of pear, baked apple and strawberries. Fruity-bitter finish.

A BBE 31.5.08 bottle but has been stored cool and dark. Hazy light brown beer. Dry and a little bitter although some smooth malt provides some relief. Boney dry finish - much to much so. Overall not a good un!
