Bottle. Seems to be pouring clear, with a copper colored body and a finger-thick off-white head leaving lacings. Soy sauce, sweetness, oak notes, salt, maltyness, vanilla and a whiff of coffee in the aroma. The flavor is sweet and lightly salty, with vanilla and a touch of coffee. Full-bodied and lighlty warming. Lasting finish that is mostly on the sweet side, leaving little room for bitterness. A wonderful one, needing some time to finish. 111209

Bottle 37,5 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours a clear orangey brown with a small, rough off-white head. Sweet caramel and oak in the nose. Solid body, carbonation is a little low, sweet roast and dark, dried fruits, clearly sweet oaky with some toast and an edge of smoke - or perhaps tar? No real bitterness, but a little warming bitterness. An odd beer. 220611

Bottle shared by Brian, thanks! Poured a slightly hazy dark brown with a brown head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma was full of molasses, caramel and maple notes with some backing bourbon and raisin. Flavor was similar with sweet grains, caramel, molasses, maple and raisin all coming out but never really coming together as much as I would have liked.

Due to the low rating count, I should have saved this and shared it - but it’s all mine! Hazy muddy brown coloured body with a very thin tan head. Aroma of strong maple syrup, meat, roasted malt, mushrooms and a touch of fruits and caramel. Medium-bodied; Assertive strong and meaty flavours with a dose of malt, some caramel and a lot of maple syrup and alcohol. Aftertaste shows a bunch of brown sugars, molasses and some deep malt. Overall, a good and potent strong autumn/winter beer that shows a lot of complexity. I sampled this 37.5 cL ’split’ bottle purchased from Mondo Vino in Denver, Colorado on 12-February-2010, sampled on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 30-May-2010 - wax marked on the top for 2009.

Sampled from a 12.7 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a huge beige head that lingered forever and produced great lacing. The aroma was wood, vanilla and smoke in a odd but interesting mixture. The flavor was strong caramel and vanilla with undertones of toasted marshmallow, wood, fruity hops, sugar and just a hint of smoke at the end. Long finish with wood, vanilla, caramel and smoke lingering. Fairly full bodied. Better than the sum of it’s parts. Excellent.
