Can as Olde Oaked Legend 26th Anniversary. Dark brown, clear, creamy foam. Aroma: sweet, butter, vanilla and bourbon, muffins, caramel. Sweetish taste, oak, bitterness, caramel, dried fruits, vanilla and a drop of bourbon, not bad.

12 oz. can from Total Wine - Melbourne. Pours a semi-clear reddish dark brown color with a small creamy beige head and great retention. Spots of lacing. Lots of floaties present. Molasses, nuts and booze aroma. The flavor is similar to the nose with less nuts and more oak. The 10.0% ABV is warming but not harsh. Overall the flavor is still too medicinal. All flavor are muted by the higher alcohol content.

(Bottle, 0.355 - 2015 vintage - bottled Oct 12/15, at Punavuoren Ahven, 20160319) The beer poured clear and dark brown. Aroma had malts, caramel, molasses and vanilla. Palate was rather full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, grass, molasses, caramel, vanilla and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, malty and bitter. A very sweet brew but surprisingly it did not bother me.

Bottled@Tommyknocker, Helsinki. Deep ruby colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is fruity, floral, citrusy and also has some mild toffeeish notes. Flavour is fruity, floral, some wooden and very sugary. Very sweet aftertaste. This probably would need a few years to balance out a bit.

33cl bottle @Tommyknocker bar, Helsinki. Brown colored, thin off white head. Mild vegetable notes, corn, bready notes. Flavor has sweetness, bread, alcohol, toffee notes. Sweet, soy sauce. Flavor is better than the aroma, but still no hit.

Small sample at bocktown and that’s all I needed. Strong ale indeed. Fading head. Darker yellah, maybe orange or mahogany, I guess, but I think not that dark. Slight volatile aroma. Stronger initial blast in the personality. Alky, warm on the palate. Slight medicinal palette, yeah, its american alright, some manners but not many.

Pours mahogany into a Trappist glass. Vanilla head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Caramel aromas. Thick and sweet with vanilla and caramel front to back. Warm lasting toffee and bourbon finish.

12oz bottle. $10.99 four pack. Thick, unfiltered brown body. Thin, glass rimming off-white head...mostly just an oily residue. Pretty big beer, but doesn’t come off overly viscous, syrupy, or overwhelming on the palate. Big oak tones smooth out the dark malts. Pretty unique, massive oaky brown ale. Bonus points for not being aged in a barrel and being priced reasonably.

Almost opaque dark brown beer with a small pale tan head. Mild minerally carbonation. Mild brown malts. Nice dried fruits, dark in character, cherry leading the pack. Nice vanilla oak provides balance and isn’t too sweet. Finishes mildly minerally. Really nice flavour profile and super drinkable.
