pours copper/burgundy, white head. aroma is hoppy, mild malty- toasted scent, some grassy notes. flavor, light hoppy mouthfeel, not an intense toasted malts palate but one that adds a nice malty profile coupled with a modest touch of caramel, pale malts and hints of fruits. A mild lingering bitterness in the finish. Ends a little thin compared to other German Bock.

12 ounce bottle from Total Wine in Richmond, VA. Pours a dark strawberry red color with a medium frothy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Nutty aroma with leafy hops and some caramel notes. Taste is caramel, nutty notes, hoppy finish. A bit of a sweaty, grainy note. Medium bodied.

As a Philadelphian, when I walk into beer store and see a Yuengling that I had never before tried, I can hardly resist the purchase. And while my expectations were not enormously high, I still knew I had to have it. Anyway, the point of the matter is that this beer far surpassed my expectations. It pours a clear brownish color with a small white head. The aroma was one of the weak points with a kind of cheap lager feel to it, but fortunately the taste compensated for it. Heavy bready feel to it. Not at all watery. Some German hops feel to it as well. Easy to drink, cheap, and enough flavour to satisfy. I hope Yuengling releases more new beers (and not just the standard micro fare, but rather an assorted, but quality macrofare).

On tap at the Colonial Downs Rhythm, Bets and Brews Festival on 06/20/2009 as Yuengling Spring Bock. Clear copper amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet toasty and caramel aroma. Caramel, and grainy flavor with light fruity and grassy notes. Medium light body with moderately high carbonation.

Thick grey-brown color, decent head. Smooth enough, but still displays some Yuengling adjuncticities. Better than the Porter, so in a sense their best offering. Still sub-par.

Sampled on draft at D’s in Monroeville PA this beer poured a dark orange-amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was sour, tangy and nutty. The flavor was dryish and a bit tart with notes of caramel and light fruits. There was a long caramel finish. Decent.

On tap at the mad mex in robinson. Looks very much like their black and tan, but perhaps ever so slightly lighter. Kind of a root beer appearance. Nice creamy head that does not fade. Smell is just plain beery good with no ill olfactory. Quite tasty for a yueng, as I recall, this is probably the most personality of any of the yuengling brews. Decent carbonation and it has some lingering roasted bitterness in there somewhat like mild old burned campfire wood. More than a dunkel and less than a bock. Comes across somewhat like a mild stout. Good experience and I’m glad I had a chance to taste this limited edition.
