Only 120 precious barrels were brewed, adding more than half a ton of extra malt and twice the amount of Amarillo hops, so prepare your self for a full sensory explosion. The double dry-hop addition elevates the grapefruit-like aroma and flavor to an outrageous intensity, while the added malt raises the alcohol level from 7% all the way to 10% by volume.

355ml bottle. Pours a clear amber-orange with a medium, frothy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, orange, grapefruit, floral and pine. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, grapefruit, orange, pine resin and bitter grass with warming alcohol in a dry, hoppy finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Decent.

On tap at Fat Heads Portland. Pours a clear orange with medium creamy white head that lasts. The aroma is spice and grapefruit. Medium mouth, strong grapefruit, light dryness, good.

12oz bottle. Poured a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma was notes of grapefruit, some pine resin. Chewy. Caramel, toffee, backing was nice. Alcohol is noticeable. Lots of serious warming.

12 ounce bottle. Deep honey gold color. Large bubbly beige head. Light grainy toasted malt aroma. Toasted malt flavor has bittersweet backdrop and sweet malt flavor. Can’t get it out of my head, like ELO!? Hard to believe this is 10% ABV. Great clinging lace. I want to go play a Door’s record and look at the label. All in all, a nice DIPA.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 7/28/2014. Pours crystal clear bright orange color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity of citrus hops and moderate malt sweetness; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity of juicy hop flavors and moderate malt sweetness; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, crisp, and fairly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good IPA. Good complexity of juicy hop flavors and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gianomme, 6/21/13

Aroma: The nose has plenty of hops, some grapefruit, floral hops, resin, and a little spice
Appearance: Pours a clear reddish-orange color with a creamy foam of off-white head and heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor is pretty big on the sweetness and it has some fairly strong hop flavor as well
Palate: The body of this one is pretty full, it has a sticky feel, a hint of heat, and a bit of a dry finish
Overall Impression: I'm not sure how this one escaped rating until now, but once I noticed it had, I knew it needed to be ticked. Anyway, this is some good stuff. As I'm finished Season 3 of Thrones, this quote from Tyrion Lannister seemed quite apropos: "It's not easy being drunk all the time, everyone would do it if it were easy."

Tap at Dexters. Served on nitro. Slightly hazy orange-tan. Steady creamy white/off-white head. Citrus pine aroma. Similar taste, with the body creamed out and nitrofied. Some noticeable alcohol, which is acceptable for a 10% beer. The nitro twists around the beer, giving it an English feel. Cleanish malt backbone with some grapefruity, dry hop action. Pretty balanced, not so syrupy.

From a 12 oz bottle. No date on bottle but several years old. Pours a clear amber with an off white head. Toffee like nose. Flavors of carmel. Almost a barley wine with this age. Hops are gone. Will need to find a fresh example.
