Cask at the Monk’s Retreat, Reading. Crystal clear amber with a middling beige head. Sweet and boozy from the off. Yes, the alcohol is definitely a little too raw and obvious here. There’s some orangey notes and something light and floral, but rather overwhelmed by the booze and sweetness. Some marzipan in the finish. Not a fan of this, heading towards tramp juice territory.

Cask at the Windlesora, Tourist Town, 30/10/15. Clear golden amber with a well appointed cream head that retains well. Nose is cotton candy, sweet malt, trace of nutmeg, straw, spice, not offensivein any way but a touch mmuted for 6% ABV. Taste comprises candied fruit peel, caramel, light orange, toasted malt, candy bar. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, massaging feel, top condition. Decent enough offering if a little restrained for the ABV. Looks and feels great.
