Canned. Deep brown pour, lots of head. Smoked/roasted/burnt malts, caramel and some bitterness. Pretty good.

Black Merlot pour. Thin foam. The taste is like Hershey's Special dark chocolate and a vanilla caramel flavor. Palate is caramel with a hint dark chocolate

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thick, three centimetre tall deep light brown head - very nice! Aroma of roasted malt, burnt sugars, bunches of nuts, raisins, grapes and a lot of very bitter spice notes. Medium-bodied; Ultra burnt and roasted flavours dominate without much sweetness at all, only showing a dash of pitted fruits, raisins and some nuts - this really is about the bitterness and pungent grain throughout. Aftertaste has a touch of dark chocolate (~75 per cent cacao) with a touch of lactose (for the creaminess), showing some moderate sweetness and then ending with the more pungent roasted grain and oatmeal bitterness. Overall, a very deep and pungent beer - even for porters, and showing more grain and oatmeal than others in the style, with a deep and satisfying character - just not sweet and quite bitter. Nice to try! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Crystal City Wine Shop in Arlington, Virginia on 22-November-2019 for US$2,96 sampled just eight days later on 30-November-2019 at home in Washington.

Keg at the brewery, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roast, chocolate, cream. Taste is bitter roast, dark chocolate, leather. Medium bodied, chewy, lingering bitterness. Nice and could be world class with a little tweaking.
Rerate 12.29.18. Had this beer several times including just now and it has been tweaked for the better. Roasty, chewy, dark, just how I like a porter. Hits the spot nicely and a very good beer Old score was 3.7.

Tap at the brewery. Pours dark brown, not quite black. Small beige head. Nice roasted malt aroma, not quite smoked but not quite not smoked. Flavor is smooth roasted malt, light hints of coffee without being a coffee porter. Smooth, bitter. Very solid. Nice beer.
