Pours dark red, looks brownish and opaque with reddish hues through light. Medium sized, a bit off-white/greyish, good enough retention, close to no lacing. Average to slightly sub-par average intensity in the aroma (at least for the abv): caramel malts with quite clear honey notes, fruity notes suggesting a mix of red and dried fruits (raisins most clearly discernible), a bit of alcohol warmth. Overall a quite simple aroma, feels pleasantly warming though. A bit more complexity (and maybe more intensity) in taste: caramel malts with a pleasant, well integrated honey note, fruity notes as per aroma, a touch of warming feel, hints of floral hops in a dry enough finish/aftertaste. Good taste definition. Leans definitely towards sweetness, perhaps even per style, but still feels nicely balanced with a bit of alcohol attenuation and as mentioned a dry enough finish. Medium body with quite low, delicate carbonation; feels light and very easy to drink for the abv but not empty, with a pleasant silky, slighty warming feel. Maybe not an intense doppel tastewise, but well made and enhanced by a very nice mouthfeel. Overall pretty nice.

Draught @ The Brewery. Pours cloudy deep amber with a small creamy head. Dark fruit, raisin and chocolate. Soft and chewy. Oily and sticky with an excellent mouthfeel. Toasted dry finish with a discreet alcohol warmth. A big one for sure. Glad to have winged this off during fastenzeit 2023.

Bottled, thanks SaintMatty! Clear mahogany colour, small head. Toasty malt aroma with some caramel. Mid sweet with full body and soft mouthfeel. Gentle, yet rich with spun sugar, raisins and dark bread. Mildly warming finish. Excellent rainy weather bock!

Many thanks to Erzengel for sharing! A clear dark reddish brown beer with a mid-sized most good lasting beige head. Aroma of dark caramelish malt, red malt, raisins. Taste of mid-sweet caramelish malt, dark reddish malt, hints of nuts and raisins. Good!

Bottle from Getränkefeinkost in Leipzig. Smooth malty nose. The beer starts smooth and creamy. Not much bitterness, easy to drink with soft malty caramel. Very smooth and soft, round and refreshing with an intense malty caramelly ending. Very smooth, soft malts, no bitterness, very dry. Interesting and great brew.
