It has a rich full-bodied feel from the roasted malts finished off with a delicious fruity hop character.

Cask at The Briar Rose, Birmingham. Clear amber with small off white top. I found this to be a solid bitter. It has a malty and nutty flavour but still has a slick easy drinking quality rather than being muddy or rich. There is some grass and light undertone of fruit which rounds it off.

Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours “bitter brown” with a medium sized almost white head and good lacing. There’s a slightly sweet aroma with oranges to the fore. In the mouth it starts off sweet with oranges the main flavour, but gradually becomes more and more bitter with floral hops, autumn fruits, some underlying malts and traces of nuts. Finish is dry and slightly sticky. This is decent – a good old fashioned bitter – or should that be “best bitter” ?

Cask at the moon under water Watford Jdw. A pale amber orange coloured pour with a creamy off white head. Aroma is nutty twiggy malts, apple, dried fruits, grass. Flavour is composed of semi sweet nutty malts, raisin bran, wet grass, sileage. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, mellow cask condition. Ok but a bit bland.

Cask at Tilly Shilling, Farnborough 21/02/20. Malty aroma. Chestnut. Foamy blotchy head. Medium-heavy bitter. Almost unrefined. Medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Astringent finish. Just didn't do it for me.

Half-pint, cask shared with Finn at North Western (JDW). Pearl white head, next-to-clear orange body, spotty lacing. Moments of stewed fruits on the nose. Caramel malty taste joined by leafy hops and dried fruits. Mid-dry bittersweet finish. Okay bitter. (Liverpool 27.01.2020).

17/8/2018. Bottle from Crafty Bottle, Lincoln. Pours bright amber with a short lasting average sized off-white head. Aroma of caramel, hops, malt, biscuit, fruit and touch of molasses. Light sweetness, quite heavy bitterness. Moderate body, oily texture, average carbonation. Hoppy, bitter finish.
