Deep dark brown coloured body with a pretty thick, tan head, about three centimetres tall. Aroma of roasted malt, deep chocolate, coffee, bitter grain, some licorice and anise notes and perhaps at the very end - some light cherries, but quite mild in the nose. Medium-bodied; Rich roasted malts with a lot of the oatmeal and graininess noticeable along with some good chocolate flavours without much added sugars, but the chocolate and creamy lactose is noticeable as well with some very soft cherries at the end without any sour or tart qualities, just the flavour from the cherry. Aftertaste is pretty robust and bitter with the malt, especially oatmeal showing through and a pretty deep chocolate, coffee and especially bitter roast and anise quality, with the cherries playing much less of a factor, and while still noticeable, they don't do much throughout here - I'm curious to see how the Toasted Marshmallow version plays out, but this is mild in terms of the cherries. Overall, not a bad option, but don't expect much cherry flavours here at all, but the malt is nice as is the richness. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Wegman's [grocery] in Alexandria, Virginia on 13-November-2021 for US$1,99 (part of a mixed six pack), sampled at my house here in Washington on 21-February-2022 after watching the Detroit Red Wings beat the Washington Capitals.

12 ounce bottle thanks to hershiser2! 7/21/22. Black thin tan head, poor retention. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, and cherry that sadly comes across as urinal cake. Taste is sweet maraschino cherry, chocolate. Thankfully the cake here is black forest, not urinal. Solid.

Cherry cordial nose, subdued. Black, thin tan head. Soil, maraschino cherry accents. Full body, easy carbonation. I would have liked a bit more chocolate and a richer malt base.
Black pour. Thin foam. Cherry cough syrup flavor with coffee, and cocoa nibs. Very dry palate. Chocolate with slight cherry finish.
