Bottle shared with MrChopin and nuplastikk. Clear dark amber, no head or lacing, small legs. Aroma of spice, dried and smoky tea leaves, peppers, very complex and ever-changing nose. Taste is rich, smooth, strong, loaded with spice, flavors melt and blend in your mouth. Ottimo!

Aroma of alcohol, smoke, sherry, balsamic, tobacco. No carbonation, nice malt flavor, some toffee, leather, tobacco, and light balsamic acidity.
Very unique.

The aroma is smoked, meaty, it seems oxidized. The front is nice, malty, sourish, with Sherry notes, smoked; but then it lacks of dept. Nice but declining.

Dark amber color, flat look, small head. Aroma of sweet malt, vanilla, oak, delicate smoke. Good body; sweet and not much bitter like most Baladin beers; pleasant and delicate smoke flavor, light acidity, nice warming alcohol feeling.
Good, but losing some of the harmony and depth that it used to have.

I curse the plastic coat over the cork and neck, messy to remove; it pours an amber color, mostly flat, with few lonely bubbles.
The aroma reminds a Gale’s Prize Old Ale, milder, with oak wood, vanilla, delicate smoke and fruits.
It has a medium body strength, with sweet malt flavor, but never syrupy; there is an average lactic, woody acidity; to a Gale’s Prize Old Ale it has a smoother and rounder body; the Lapsang Suchong tea gives a light tangy smoke touch, but not the promised tannins (as in the recent Fishermann’s Tea Party), a bit oaky; the alcohol can easily be perceived, but it’s not disturbing.
Balanced final, with a mix of all components (acidity, light sweet malt, oak, smoke…).
A very original beer, positively built over a classic Gale’s style, extremely interesting.
This delicious Barley Wine is by far the best beer I had so far from Baladin, wonderful and world class. Still, its price is insane in comparison with the rest of the market, and I despise the extortion that brewers prepare for us consumers.
