Draught. Clean black with a thin head. Aroma is light vanilla, chocolate and roast. Flavour has burnt malt, dark chocolate, spice on a long dry burnt finish. A little flat at the end, a bit mire kick and this would be a winner.

Bottle conditioned, 500ml: poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 5th Dec 13. Dark brown body, with a red hue: the head a lightly tanned foam. Malts all the way here: chocolate, coffee and liquorice notes in both the aroma and taste. Smooth and full bodied, an easy drinking Winter brew that hasn’t been over spiced like so many others in the UK.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. It pours a clear, dark brown body and a small, beige head. Quite spiced on the nose, with roasted malts, some coffee and a touch of dried fruits. Roasted flavor with some caramel. Quite spiced too, with some bitterness. Medium body, dry and pleasantly carbonated. Nothing impressive here, but quite interesting. 110415
