Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een kastanjebruin bier met een dun lichtbruin schuim. De geur is zurig en wijnachtig. De smaak is zoetzuur, wijnachtig en een beetje nootachtig. Het heeft een droge nasmaak.

Mild gusher. Almost clear brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and mildly dry, good fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts, trace of dark chocolate. Thin and slightly tangy red wine. Touch of spice. Light dry finish. Fine but not really singing for me. 7.0%

Still a mild gusher, airy semi dry palate, good fine minerally carbonation. This bodied malts, a touch of caramel. Mildly tangy red wine and dessert wine. Light dry crisp finish. Interesting. Hasn't aged really, neither has it really improved much, a little rounding perhaps. Tidy.

Sampled @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017. A hazy dark brown beer with a mid sized most good lasting beige head. Aroma of red grapes, Wood, Wine, some vinegar. Taste of tart red fruits, wine, old grapes, woody, vinegar. Nice.

25 cL bottle, bought in Brussels. A minor gusher. Pours a clear, dark brown color, with a big, bubbly, tan head. Nose of some coffee, light cranberries, orange peel, star anise, and black bread. Sweet and lightly roasted, with a faint, fun tartness. Light to medium body, very effervescent, with a lightly acidic, and sharp mouthfeel. This is an interesting, and pretty tasty beer.

Flaska från belgiuminabox. Vacker rödbrun färg, klar, krämigt beige skum. Doft av fat och trä, kärnfrukt, söt torr vinäger. Smaker mer trä än vad trä gör. Aldrig har jag druckit något med så mycket fatkaraktär, torr och strams träig men där finns stenfrukt, druvor, balsamvinäger med syrlighet och lite sötma och en rejäl träig kärnbeska på slutet. Unikt och faktiskt ganska komplext men också väl svårflörtad. Kul ändå.

Bottle, 250 ml, shared with JFK10000 and Max. Hazy brownish, medium off white head. Fruity, some red grapes, caramel, light wood, sweet, sourish, bitterish finish. Medium bodied. Bit thin, lacking more background, complexity.

Dunkbar Pilsnerfestival Pre-tasting. Copper to chestnut colour with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of dried fruit with funky notes of leather. Sweet flavour of dried fruit, bubblegum, oak and red berries. Nice tannic finish

Bottle @ Pre-Pils-Festival, Odense. Pours Amber copper with a White head. Red Wine, vanilla, caramel, dried fruit. Sippable and well integrated flavors.

Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Strong Belgian dark aged on wine barrels (Nuits Saint Georges to be precise, the same wine of which barrels are used in Bush de Nuits, among others). Medium thick, stable, pale yellowish beige, compact head, slowly dissipating here and there in the middle, over a hazy maroon brown beer with wine red hue. Noble aroma of dried plums, caramel candy, soaking wet wood, passion fruit, fig, wrinkled old red apple peel, blue grapes, gingerbread, red wine indeed but nicely interwoven into the whole, old sweet sherry, chestnuts, dry tree leaves, toffee, cranberries, black peppercorns, jute bags, dusty attic. Nobility in the mouth as well: lots of dried fruit in the onset, unripe cherries, dried figs, blueberries, grape skins - only restrainedly sweetish, with a sourish edge from the wine barrels. Carbonation is a bit on the spritzy side for this type of beer, mouthfeel is rounded, supple and resiny, but perhaps a bit thinner than expected for an 8% ABV Belgian - clearly not an all-malt beer, in which fermentable sugars were added in some or other form to keep the body light whilst increasing alcohol strength, but in that sense no different from countless Belgian ales, of course. Nutty, lightly bready, eventually bitterish toasty maltiness, again sweetish but only restrainedly so, working towards a drying, very tannic finish, old furniture almost - or indeed old wine barrels, with a slightly astringent effect; the wine itself helps to provide tartness, as in all wine barrel aged craft beers, and reveals its tart and grapey flavour only at the very end, yet subtly so, as it is overcome by the nuttiness of the malts, the wood itself and, importantly, a firm dosis of leafy, peppery, wormwood-like bittering hops, stretching a long way down the throat but still not becoming overly dominant. Dry, subdued in its sweetness and ending tannic and astringent with a good amount of hop bitterness, this is a fine wine barrel aged Belgian, reminiscent of not only Bush de Nuits but also e.g. Ben's Strong Dark Oak Aged, Ben Vinken's wine barrel aged dubbel released in Delhaize supermarkets a couple of years ago. All these beers have a nutty, bready core, a dried fruit-like quality, woody tannins and a drying, tart, effectively dry red wine-like finish in common, with an overall effect that superficially resembles oud bruin. Nicely done, BBP is getting better I have the impression, especially now that they have discovered the benefits of barrel aging. Probably ages nicely as well.
