Very clear copper and bronze coloured body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall, just off-white head that stays afloat nicely, but is small. Aroma of grain, light nuts, earth, flowers and a dash of light caramelised sugar and a good deal of yeast still in the mix. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and very malty flavours dominate with a very nutty and biscuity malt note with some apples and pear notes along with a dry assertive and pungent lager yeast note that is very bitter and deep astringency from metal notes near the end. Aftertaste shows the deeper malty, nutty and pungent yeast note with a grainy and yeastie/bready bite that shows a large astringency with some metal and light fruity note without much else. Overall, a very deep, super strong, nutty, herbal and especially yeastie beer with only a touch of caramlised sugars and fruit notes to balance things out, but the astringent and pungent side is way stronger than anything else here. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Total Wine in Total Wine in Alexandria (Little River Turnpike), Virginia on 12-September-2020 for US$2,49 sampled at my house here in Washington on 11-October-2020.

Honey and tea nose. Clear auburn brown, thin yellow head. Nutty honey and dried leaves flavor. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Newcastle meets Munich as this beer seems to marry the nutty lightness of an English brown ale with the clean richness of a proper maerzen. Unique take on the style.
