Hand crafted by our award winning brewer in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales, Lidstone’s Rowley Mild (GBBF Champion Mild of Great Britain 2003) is a truly distinctive beer with chocolate and toffee aromas leading into what, for its strength, is an impressively rich and flavoursome taste; the finish is pleasantly bitter-sweet.
Brewed with the finest floor malted Maris Otter Barley, Malted Oats and Roast Barley, Munich, Chocolate, Crystal and Carapils Malts with leaf hops and Wensleydale Brewery’s own yeast strain.

Bottle 500ml. [ As Wensleydale Rowley Mild ].Clear dark red brown color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly to fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted - burnt, caramel, chocolate - coffee, tobacco. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, roasted - burnt malt, dark malt, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20110319]

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. It pours a dark brown body, clear, and topped by a small, beige head. Toffee, chocolate and burnt malts on the nose, some fruity hops too. It’s thin on the palate, with a pleasant carbonation level. The flavor has a faint licorice touch in the far back, else it’s toffee, coffee and chocolate. A pleasant one indeed, a beer one could easily down a few of, or drink all day. 110319

Bottle @ Denmark/Norway Tasting @ Ulfborg 2011. Courtesy of Fonefan. Pours dark amber brown with a bubbly white head on top. Vague roast, dust and caramel. Nutty flavor. Nice.

Bottle. Lightly smokey chocolate malt aroma. Dark brown color with small head. Sweet chocolate malt flavor with a light smokey/ashy finish. Body a bit light and watery finish. Good but pretty light.

Cask-conditioned at the Wenlock Arms, London 11/02/10. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Sweetish milk chocolate and dark fruit aroma. Easy drinking with more chocolate and fruit, a hint of caramel and decent roasty finish. Good.

Cask at the Cambridge Blue, Cambridge. Dark tawny brown with a thin beige head; simple malt aroma; thinly bodies with soft malts and a touch of licorice; sweet and dry finish. A good traditional mild.

Cask/gravity at Battersea Beer Festival 8 Feb 08. Dark brown colored. A thin layer-head. Sweet aroma of raisins. Watery fruity flavor. A surprising sourish bite in the finish.

Cask @ Volunteer Arms, GBBF 2006. Dark brownish colour with an off-white head. Roasted malty aroma. Sweet roasted malty flavor with some hints of caramel. Malty and slightly bitter aftertaste.
