At ZBF 2011, Sint-Niklaas: Amber coloured brew with hints of caramel and a citrus-biiter finish.

Dijkwaert’s first, or one of the first, since 2010. Loose, yellowish white head, colour golden blonde if from tap, but clearly darker and almost brownish peach blonde if from bottle. Aroma of green apples, bitter orange, jute, bread, walnuts, caramel; dry taste with some vague lactic acidity, caramel malts, citrus peel, long hop bitter finish, not very well-balanced or particulary appetizing. Seems a Duvel-inspired ’edelbier’ but if that is the case, there is still a lot of work to do.

Gushing to fully hazed, brownish orangey beer with collection of particulary nasty UFO’s. Towering dirty yellowish head, fed by very lively, constant carbonation. Herbal, fresh-hoppy nose, tad grassy, actually quite fresh & inviting. Bit of yeasty-bready too, inevitably. Bitterish, like chicory or Ersatz-coffee, with a bready-malty underbuild. Yeasty esters, but still some resemblance of balance. Toasted malts and after some time, bitterish herbs. Obviously very lively, spritzy carbonation. Medium bodied. "Vuur" might well be explained by the fountain of erupting foam; but as to "Goud" - somebody is using a different colourkey than I do. Again... homebrew aspects.

Hazy copper colour. Lively and rather yeasty. Flavour very bready such does the yeast dominate.

06/03/2011 - 75cl bottle @ Zythos Beer Festival (2011-94)
Little cloudy amber to copper red beer, light beige aery head. Aroma: citrus notes, some caramel. MF: lots of carbon, too much to be good, light to medium body. Taste: very spicy, hops, caramel and malts. Aftertaste: citrus and hops, toasted malts. Not bad, but not very unique.
