Cask at The Turks Head, Leeds. Opaque dark amber. Thick foamy white head. Aroma has chewy grains and malts with a sour streak. Flavourwise it has a sour streak with popping herbal edge over a granary. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-average carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Enjoyable bitter.

Cask at Ebenezers, Nantwich. Pours “bitter brown” with a small off-white head and good lacing. Is slow to settle. Not much of an aroma, just some malty hints. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with malts again to the fore. Traces too of traditional hops, honey and (later on) some spices. A little bitterness in the finish. This is nice – a simple beer but done very well.

Cask @ Exchange Ale House, Bradford. Clear copper-amber with a small head. Hop-malt balanced, with a very low bitterness factor given the style is in its name. Worthy brew though.
