More reminiscent of a dunkel than a doppelbock. Sweetish brew that pours flat (no head, minimal carbonation) with a very malty taste that leaves a sugary taste in the mouth. Was expecting more. I wish the American brewers were more truthful to the German styles....

Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours a beautiful clear orangey brown with a creamy beige head. Lovely walnut aroma with plenty of pumpernickel. Quite full-bodied - definitely appears stronger than 6.25%! - with a solid base of crystal malts, nuts, pumpernickel and brown sugars. Very subdued bitterness. An almost flawless Bock. 100312

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured an intensely dark brown - almost black color with a medium sized foamy brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was tangy caramel, molasses, cherry and raisin. The flavor was tangy and sweetish with a strong molasses presence and notes of malt, caramel, raisin, cherry and touches of malted milk, cocoa and oak. The finish was long and tangy with lingering molasses and fruits. Fairly full bodied and smooth. Solid.

12oz split with Anndiesel. Deep opaque brown black. Frothy beige head. Coffee, dark chocolate aroma. Lots of brown sugar tones but mellow enough ABV to never be overwhelming. Not really true to style, but somehow captures the essence in it’s flavor profile. A pretty enjoyable beer, maybe closer to a straight up Dunkle Bock.

Bottled@Bishops Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Quite much deep ruby/black colour with a small beige head that vanishes rather quickly. Aroma is syrupy, sweet malty as well as slightly dark fruity. Flavour is dark fruits, some toffee, mild hops and spices. As it warms up it gets more complex and bodied and the fruityness grows. Sadly warming up also gives the beer some slight metallic notes.

Dark lager yea but not schwartz. Nearly medicinal on the finish.
