Our very own Dampen - meaning Steamboat - is reminiscent of the classic Anchor Steam Beer from San Francisco. Following the original lines, Dampen is brewed with lager yeasts at high temperatures. The result is moderate fruitiness from the yeasting process, and a fine malty presence. Dampen evinces a delicate balance of hoppiness and malt, with the hops slightly in the ascendance. German Northern Brewer hops are preferred, tempered with a little American Cascade towards the end of the boil. The resulting brew has a pure, bitter note, combined with a slightly spicy aroma reminiscent of wood, citrus, mint, and blackcurrant. The malt blend includes Pilsner and caramel varieties. Our current Dampen, created for the Fjordsteam Fjordboat Festival in Florø in 2010, quickly became a regular favourite. It is fitting therefore that the label depicts a famous local steamer, DS Atløy. Dampen is an all-purpose table beer that complements a variety of menus, coping especially well with rich or spicy dishes.

Brun tåkete med kremete offwhite skum. lett malt, smør, krydder og nøttelukt. Her er det en mild fin øl med mange smaker. Søtt, bittert og kryddersmaker. Lett malt og karamell. Kardemomme. Smør og noe humlebitterhet. Lite kullsyre

Flaske delt med Børge på Cardinal okt-13: fint skum med gardin. Deilig og myk humlearoma med blomster. Myk og god, fyldig og fruktig smak. Ikke den lange ettersmaken, men den lave voltstyrken tatt i betraktning er dette et meget smaksrikt og tilfredsstillende øl.

Fruktig sødmerik lukt med preg av karamellmalt, humle, korn og litt kaffi. Sødmerik smak med preg av karamellmalt, humle, korn, høy, litt brent tre og kaffi. Middels bitterhet som set litt. God.

75 cl bottle at Quality Hotel Waterfront, Ålesund, September 2012. A bit hazy amber with a large head. Aroma and taste of malt, fruit, caramel, biscuits, cellar and some light notes of smoke. Quite bitter finish. Descent.

Bottle at home. Pours a hazy amber colour with a frothy white head that looks like cotton candy. Pretty much carbonation aswell. Aromas of pale malt, hay, sweet corn and some herbs. The flavour is fruitier with grapefruit, berries, herbs, and some wood. Has a soft mouth feel, and is surprisingly medium bitter. A decent beer, but maybe too much focus on the bitterness.

Bottle from Meny, Vollebekk. Pours hazy light brown with a huge white head. Aroma of hops, malt, caramel and fruits. Quite fruity with some sweetness and good bitterness. Dry and lightly bitter finish with a hint of citrus. Nice beer! [Brygg nr. 180]

Bottle. It pours an unclear, muddy amber body and a two-finger off-white head. Weak malty and fruity aroma with yeasty notes. Fruity flavor with pale malts and a hint of cellar, bitter and biscuity finish. Smooth and medium bodied. Although a bit boring, it’s a quite nice beer that drinks easily and has some quenching qualities. 110204
