A Deep History From It's Roots, Deserving Of A Place On The Taps.
Our running series of Pub Ale's start with our core Pub Ale Best and diverge throughout the year to let us explore what ‘traditional’ and bitter or ale mean. Dark Ruby Mild starts it journey with the most defining character, its malt base.
This beer's identity starts with a malt bill inspired by a rather famous Victorian Mild brewed to this day, 3 miles from the centre of Wolverhampton. If you know, you know.
The deep, bright ruby colour is matched with a hedgerow berry aroma and a hit of Bramling Cross bitterness. Drinking below its ABV, it's a smooth, malty beast to be respected!

Taste comprises toffee, brown bread, biscuit, stewed fruits.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close.
Decent enough mild.

Cask @ Smithfield Market Tavern, Manchester. Extremely dark red with a creamy-frothy head. Quite hoppy for a 'mild', so not quite a typical one, but quite interesting for it with some dryness.
Earlier Rating: 5/19/2022 Total Score: 3.1
Cask @ Smithfield Market Tavern, Manchester. A dark ruby colour as in its name, clear too with a good head. It has a malty sweet aroma and taste, with a graininess in the mix.
