bottle - Pours cloudy gold and fizzy with a small, rapidly fading head. There’s a yeasty, bready malt aroma. The flavor is sweet, light malts with mild fruit accents and a bit of hops bitterness. It’s a quaffable brew but is underwhelming, which seems to be common with some other Pyramid beers I’ve had.

May 2010: On tap in the Burger Bar (Las Vegas), wasn’t advertised as a Kölsch or I’d have passed on it. Pale golden colour, thin white head, typical Kölsch even if this was brewed thousands of miles away from its homeland. No smell (also typical Kölsch), gets my standard score of 3 for a non smelling Kölsch/Pilsner/Lager. Bland and boring, not unsimular to the real thing. Kölsch beers are fine if it is sunny, you’re in Köln, otherwise leave them alone. They are supposed to be delicate and flavourless, this one fits the bill perfectly, so full marks for effort. The beer is well made, but it isn’t the beer to be having if you’re on a mission like I was.

No gunk on bottom of bottle but pour is hazy pale lager. Slaggy aroma. Herbal, yes, like l,eather perhaps. Weird spices, I bet this should be a veggie beer of some sort. Seems like more than 5% but here its listed as less. Not sure about this one, kinda unique. Spices are the overwhelming impact here, but not like the spices in a wheat beer fer sure. Some CO2 but could use more if this is truely a kolcsh. Finish is processed light leather. Lasts for a while. No hops in this kolcshy stuff. Not real good but better than most IPA IMHO, heheh

12 ounce bottle, opened 6/17/10. Pours a clear pale amber color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet, grainy malts with some leafy hops. The taste is peach-like fruits, sweet grainy notes and a floral hop finish. Medium bodied. Weird, not a very good beer.

Bottled (thanks Kalevi). Deep golden colour, small off-white head. Aroma is mild fruits, some wood, earth and herbal notes. Mild notes of biscuits as well. Flavour is bready malts, biscuits, some herbal notes as well as mild wooden notes. Quite pleasant, but lacks a bit of the complexity the German ones have.

12 oz bottle. Is it a blonde or a Kolsch? New label says Blonde Ale, old label said Kolsch. So WTF is it?? Smells of caramelized grain. Appearance is a slightly hazy golden hue. Tastes of caramel, grain; highly carbonated. Not much head to speak of; lacing is halfway decent. It’s a little expired; not sure if it’s affecting the beer in any way or not. This has always been my least favorite beer from Pyramid. It’s not tasting too bad tonight, however.
