Henley has long been known for flavourful session beer and this 3.4% Pale Ale is no exception.

We use Maris Otter as a base malt with a special blend of specialty malts to give this small beer a complex malt profile. Generous additions of 3 hop varieties give this beer exceptional hop character.

TASTING NOTE
The amber coloured ale has a good balance of juicy malt and hop character on the nose. The flavour finishes with a balance of bitterness from toasted barley, leading to a long clean bitterness of English hops.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of brown bread and light orange. Taste is more of the same. Dry finish.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - golden amber. Attractive white lacing. Nose - brown bread. Orange maybe. Taste - burnt brown bread. Palate - light to medium bodied. Roasty finish just avoids being astringent. Overall - so so.

Bottle ordered from A Hoppy Place, Windsor. Bitter edged aroma of citrus, bery and spice, i.e. marmalade. Amber. Creamy translucent white head. Medium bitter. A slight tang. Malty base. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average carbonation. Dry slightly astringent finish. I note that it's yet another bitter now rebranded as Pale Ale - would have thought they'd have gone with Amber Ale but then their gold is a Wheat Beer. Decent enough. Peppy.

33bl bottle. Poured a crystal clear amber colour with a frothy, short-lived, white head. The aroma is dry cardboard malt, light toffee, metallic hop. The flavour is moderate bitter light sweet with a crisp, dry malt, light sweet fruit, woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Keg at the Lovibonds tap takeover Brewdog Camden. Clear bright orange / light amber coloured pour with a lasting thin white head. Aroma is lovely rounded sweet malts with honey, toffee and candy. Nice earthy pollen on the nose as well. Flavour follows with more toffee biscuity malts, pollen, caramel biscuit, mineral. Palate is semi sweet, bit thin, high carbonation. Could dial back the carbonation a bit. Lovely lingering honey, earthy.

Bottle at home, from Tourist Town’s Waitrose, 12/04/15. Hazed golden amber with a decent light beige covering. Nose is bitter fruit, light floral, bready malt, toffee apple. Taste comprises caramel, light candied fruits, hint of brown sugar, mellow fruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Inoffensive easy drinking amber affair, nothing I’d look to revisit but nothing wring with it.

330ml bottle. Clear, orangey golden colour with absurdely huge, frothy to macropore, diminishing (or better "osteoporosing"), minimally lacing, barely white head. Hoppy and surprisingly yeasty aroma, notes of gooseberry, a touch of herbs and brine, some grass and hay, a cautious floral yeasty touch, even hints of mushrooms. Taste is inharmonious, bready, woody, earthy hints of forest plants, mushrooms, a touch of caramel malt, some pine, herbal hoppy overtones; slightly chaotic but truely variegated.

Keg at the Hanging Bat. Grassy, funky, dry toffee, bit thin and wishy washy.

Keg at the brewery. It pours clear amber with medium white head. The nose is earth, wood, brown bread and hay. The taste is wood, earth, brown bread, light bitterness, pithy citrus and touch of spice with a dry, bitter finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. A solid session ale, but not their best.

Keg at Windsor castle hotel in Windsor, 10th October 2012. Pours amber, served too cold for my taste, the beer is nice and easy drinking, kind of caramel and undertones of strawberry on the flavour, not bad for the pathetic ABV
