Henley Dark is inspired by 18th century London Porter and is crafted with a blend of seven different malted barleys including one smoked with beech wood.
TASTING NOTE
Deep amber with a ruby glow and creamy tan head.
Rich chocolate aroma with a hint of smoke. Creamy texture combines caramel and chocolate flavours finishing dry with bitterness from the dark malts and hops.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel and smoke. The flavor is sweet with notes of smoke , malt, caramel, and fruit, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours an almost clear orangey brown with a huge and frothy beige head leaving a nice lacework. Distinct Bamberg smoke in the nose. Medium body, again the smoke dominates with some chocolate and hard roast. Malt astringent finish. 050111

Bottle that Loz picked up from the brewery & shop for me 31.12.10 consumed 02.01.11 A beer that I’ve had before but never got around to rating. This pours dark amber with some reddy glints shining through, good clarity. Nice bitter chocolate in the mouth, soft carbonation, a bit thin at times with a little dark fruitiness. Nice beer. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

On tap at the Rake. Clear mid brown beer with a ghost of a cream coloured head. Light dry airy palate. Smoky malt and lots of bitterness sit oddly in the context of the palate. A trace of orangey hop - well buried. Finishes dry and bitter. Hmmm smoke, bitter and dry with no other features. This was never going to work for me!

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, ruby amber colour with a big and dense beige foamy head. Moderately sweet roasted and slightly smoked malty aroma with dark chocolate and very subtle fruity notes. Moderately bitter flavour, light bodied with a smooth carbonation. Complex malty flavours: roasty and delicately smokey taste with chocolate, mocha and liquorice; smokey and rich malty finish. Lacks a bit body, otherwise a gem. 11.XI.09
