12oz bottle, stamped BB 5.22.15. Interesting a 9 ibu amber, so a non hop-centric Amber that isn’t supposed to be an Irish Ale, don’t see too many of those. I guess that would be an English take on an Amber. Also, 4.8 abv, 9 ibu beer that is a "Big" Amber, what? Either way, pours a clear orange/copper body, completely clear throughout, must be filtered. Small head but leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is some fruity hops, surprisingly. Looks like its mostly (if not all) super late additions. Then slightly fruit yeast. Has a fruity tropical thang going on but not overly hop-centric or yeast centric. Weird and interesting. Flavor is... surprising. At first, I am all like, what happened. A fruity malt biscuit flavor starts and then abruptly ends. Then a hoppy and de-bittered flavor. Ends light yet slightly stick. I eventually realize this is an Americanized mild with hops but no bitterness. That makes me really appreciate the beer. I like it more than the score I am giving it.

On tap at Hale's, pours a clear copper with a small beige head. Aroma brings out gentle bready malts with a subtle hop component - pretty bland and lifeless though. Flavour is about the same, bringing out bready caramel malts balanced with fruity hops. Not a whole lot to this, but it's balanced decently enough. Okay, but not my thing.

Unanimous choice for a drainpour by five tasters at the brewpub in Seattle. Seemed to be flavored by added syrup. Not a nice beer.

Draught at Hales Ales Brewery and Pub
Hazy amber color. Dry mouthfeel, with almost no aroma, traces of caramel flavor, fairly bitter and a bit metallic.
This is really the darker sister of their Pale Ale.

Sample at the brewpub. Hazy reddish-amber color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates steadily. Short strings of lacing. Caramel malt and hops in the nose. Medium body with flavors of dank malt, caramel and citrusy hops. The finish is mildly bitter with a malt aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.
