The Chronic of IPAs, the enlightening hop trip you’ll wish would never end, Stash’s simple malt bill is the blank canvas for a kaleidoscopic array of six hop profiles: citrusy and floral, dank and resinous, piney and earthy. By their powers combined—this is Stash IPA! Keep your wits about you, you’ll want to remember where you hid your Stash.

Bought in a draft pint at the local emporium. So how do these Texas breweries keep doing it? Well done. It appears with a fairly innocuous light gold and yellow in the glass. The head is much better, a highly carbonated layer of small bubbles that is as thick as you want I guess. The smell is of pine and hops, an IPA of course. It has a fairly involved taste, juniper with an ending pineapple sweetness. Very decent. And that is followed with a pleasant bitterness, not too much. Clean, brisk. All right.

Crisp, very slightly hazy blonde golden coloured body with a thin, half centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of bright hops, citrus, light malt, alcohol and a bit of grass and herbs. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy, herbal and perfumey hop character up front with a strong malt backbone and an assertive spicey yeast note, for the style, especially. Aftertaste shows mostly herbal and grassy hops with a pungent malt backbone and some stronger alcohol flavours as well. Overall, a nice and pungent IPA with not too much hop bitterness, but more of a grassy and kick from the citrus than anything else. Decent to try, but not great and not in the same boat as the best IPAs from the West Coast. This is pretty much what I was expecting (a middle of the road IPA), until I saw these scores, but this beer doesn’t warrant this type of rating. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whip-In in Austin, Texas on 05-May-2014 for US$1,79 sampled at home in Washington on 11-August-2014.

Sample at Flying Saucer in Austin. This brew pours a clear dark golden color with a medium thin off-white head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of hops, citrus and malt. Medium-bodied with a grassy hops character and flavors of earthy malt and citrus. The finish is moderately bitter with a hoppy aftertaste. Above average overall.
