(Bottle, hand bottled from tap, 2 litres - generously brought to Belgium and offered by fonefan, thanks - at the 16th Kerstbierfestival) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and light brown. Aroma had roastedness, hops and mildly burntness. Palate was full bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were roastedness, hops, malts, hint of coffee, mildly ash and medium bitterness. Aftertaste was roasty and bitter. Nice hoppy porter.

Growler courtesy of Jan & Charlotte at Kerstbier Festival, Essen, Belgique, 18.12.10 Very simple but likeable porter. Decent tasting from the start. This beer pours dark brown almost black. Sour with a bit of lacto yoghurtiness, then some late roastiness. A simple, tasty beer. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

Black beer with dark greige head. Pungent point of ... noble rot? Herbs, USA hops, roasted notes. Coffee, ashes, roasted and burnt malts in the flavour, burnt chocolate. Light, but nowhere watery, gives a smooth impression backthroat, and somehow granular texture, pleasing. LIght, but a nice black porter. Many thanks to the generosity of Jan and Charlotte!

Draught@Bishops Arms. Quite much deep brown almost opaque colour with a mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts, some caramel, mild ashes, liquorice and some slight hayish notes. Flavour is ashy, toasted malts, some mild caramel and chocolate. Quite pleasantly balanced, but a bit thin in the palate.

Roasted, malty taste with black coffee, cocoa, liquorice, ashes, black-currant and hints of pine needles in the finish. More than medium body, fairly dry.
