First Gold is a relatively modern (1990’s) English hop, and is a ’dual purpose’ type, being good for bittering and aroma / flavour usage. It can impart subtle citrus orange and apricot flavours, and is popular with breweries of all sizes.

Cask, gravity at The Trigger Pond, Bucknell, St Georges Beer Festival 26-04-10 Gold in colour with a few stray bubbles, clean, clear appearance. Perhaps a tiny bit past its best as this was at the end of the Beer Festival but still in pretty reasonable nick. Some streaky lemon and bitter orange in the mouth, this bitterness clings to the back of the mouth and hangs around for a while. Citrus flavours continue, sweetness is slight though in the most part absent, quite good. A6 A4 F7 P3 Ov13 3.3
