Appearance: Clear copper/amber with a medium off-white head and spotty lacing
Aroma: Bourbon, vanilla and woody
Taste: Toffee, bourbon and vanilla
Interesting how a 5 year old DIPA evolved. This has turned into a BA Barley Wine. It was good.

750 ml bottle thanks to Dallas. The bottle is 5 years old! Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A rich nose of sweet bourbon and light caramel. The flavor has developed nicely: not a IPA or a IIPA certainly the hops have faded, though I can’t say what they were originally. A a sweet but mellow bourbon flavor with some heat, vanilla, sweet fruit and caramel. Very much like an American BW. Good.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, hops, lemon, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, lemon, and over ripe fruits, leading to a dry and lightly bitter finish.

75 cL bottle, 2007. Pours cloudy and dark amber to orange with a small white head. Aroma is caramelish and pinewood hoppy. Sticky caramelish and subdued fruity. Hops seems to have faded quite a bit bring this towards a US barley wine. Sticky sweet and warming bourbon finish.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of StFun. Pours a hazy deep amber with a small and rough off-white head. Sweet Bourbon and licorice allsorts in the nose. Medium body, a little low in carbonation, sweet caramel and strong oaky notes. Hops are rather subdued but do leave a little bitterness. 221110

sample from 2007 bottle, thanks to cmr157 for sharing some with me as the Shoreline reps were umm... playing dumb about its existence after some was poured for a few people - The aroma is of course bourbon and hops. There’s some citrus in there. The flavors blend together wonderfully with the hops presence still there after three years though smoothed by a substantial malt backbone, as well as time, and those flavors enhanced by a balanced addition of bourbon. It slides down the throat so smoothly. There’s a bitter, bourbony finish. It all comes together so well in this beer. Superb.

From the bottle at the Indiana Winterfest. Poured a clear yellowish orange amber with an off-white head that had a yellow hue. Aroma was a bit weak with notes of pine and alcohol. Flavor had a nice combination of pine and citrus hops with an undertone of alcohol and grain.
