Alaskan Baltic Porter is a deep, dense beer with an intricate array of aromas and flavors derived from substantial amounts of specialty malts, dark black cherries and whole gourmet vanilla beans. In order for the British to export their dark ales to the northern ports of the Baltic Sea, they were brewed stronger than normal to endure the long voyage. The extra warmth was welcomed in these countries with harsh winters and a taste for the robust, attributes that also fare well in Alaska.

Bottle at Maltzillas World Cup 2010 tasting. Pours black with tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, cherries, vanilla and some smoke. Roasty flavor with vanilla and dark cherries and licorice. Just a hint of smokiness. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a little dry. Very nice. Thanks Patrick.

220z bottle pours a transparent, deep brown with very little ringing white head. Aroma has plenty of cherry, smells a touch oxidized, a little vanilla, sweet turbinado sugar. Flavor delivers exactly what the label is selling, vanilla, brown sugar, cherry, dark malts. Finish is medium bodied with some lasting sweetness.
