On tap at the brewpub. Sehr trübes dunkel goldenes Bier mit mittelgroßen weißen schaumkrone. Geruch süß malzig, mild hopfig. Geschmack süß malzig, angenehm blumig und floral hopfig, nicht zu bitter, okay!

Pours a clear copper. Malty aroma with some yeastiness. Flavor is heavy in the malts as expected and a bit creamy as well.

Enjoyed both on tap as well as cask conditioned at the Vogelbrau in Karlsruhe, DE. This was hands down the best beer I enjoyed during this most recent trip to Germany. Appearance was a slightly muddy brownish gold with a rich white head. Aroma mostly of yeast and malt, smell was nice. The taste was the best part, bursting with yeast and bitter notes, this tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. There is no way you can bottle this one, must be enjoyed fresh from the brewery. Extremely good.

2011-10-03, draught at the brauhaus in Durlach, 7-4-7-4-14=36
Muddy orange-amber color, with creamy head; Vogel is very consistent on the head. Very nice aroma of malt (with light biscuity notes) and hop. Good mouthfeel, round, with good malt flavor, and lingering sweetnees, and for once the bitterness at Vogel is just right, without excess, still more bitter than average Oktoberfest beers though. Very good.

2010-10-06, draught at the brauhaus in Ettlingen, 6-4-6-2-12=30
Muddy orange-amber color; compact head. Light malt and hop aroma, but not as interesting as in Durlach. Dryness and carbonation, although evident, are less disturbing than in the other locations; still, the malt profile is not impressive, a bit metallic, and still yeasty and harsh in the end.

2010-10-06, draught at the brauhaus in Kapellenstraße, 6-4-6-2-11=29
Muddy orange color; compact head. Compared to the Durlach Festbier, this one has less hop aroma. It has the same flaws: dry, overly carbonated, overy yeasty, with a weak body, poor malt profile and harsh final. Messy.

2010-10-06, draught at the brauhaus in Durlach, 7-4-6-2-12=31
Muddy orange color; compact head. The aroma is nice, with a precise noble hopping, also a bit grassy. The mouthfeel is very dry, also because of the strong bitterness; the carbonation is very high as well; the malt profile is subdued, and overwhelmed, by a mostly powerful bitterness, and by too high yeast presence; harsh. Really messy.

Draught Hazy orange-amber, well-carbonated beer to a foxy-coloured stable head. Malt and fresh greeenery; very fresh-smelling. Very malt-orientated with a discreet, nice toaste flavour, ending in wholemeal cakes. Very nice, just a little background bitterness, a bit roasted-hoppy. More or less medium bodied, quite slick. Another typical Vogelbräu beer, topquality only from this pubbrewing mini-chain, striving for the "real thing". Draught, second rating at Vogelbräu Durlach Dense off-white head over reddish orange-amber beer. (4/5) Fresh, leafy, noble hops. Extremely inviting nose, with some crisp cookie malts (8/10) Bitter-hoppy beer, very refreshing, with just a light sweet maltbread finish. (7/10) Medium bodied, grist slickness. (4/5) Everytime I visit a Vogelbräu, I like their beer better! (14/20)
