Belgian Style India Pale Ale
When we set out to brew, we use imagination and salvation to guide us- not necessarily style guidelines. It’s the Belgian way. So, Ameri-Belgo and IPA both being styles, the branding begged for New Belgium whimsy to liven things up. Hmmm Belgo sounds like a Belgian disco. Hops like to party. Next thing you know, we bust out a disco-ball and brewers started groovin. Hops started hoppin. Add in an authentic Trappist yeast strain and the place brewed into a frenzy of citrus hoppy folly.

Sample at the Asheville brewery. Clear golden color with a medium ivory white head that dissipates steadily to a film. Stringy lacing. Fruity yeast, hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of Belgian yeast, citrusy hops and malt. The finish is moderately bitter and fruity with a hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bought the New Belgium Folly pack to try this beer. Glad I did although I am not overwhelmed. Poured in a New Belgium tulip glass, fittingly so. Cool dark yellow, nice foamy top and interesting slightly sweet aroma. Coriander and the sweetness are truly Belgian. Then the IPA takes over, pine and a bit hoppy. Some resin on the tongue later. Involved beer, curious, kudos to NB for reaching out there.

A hazed golden amber ale with a thick frothy off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity and citrusy malt with nice floral hops, catty and resinous. In mouth, a smooth fruity malt with nice esters, citrus, floral hops, well restrained and quite quaffable.

From a 12 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Yeast and citrus hop nose. Quite mellow with some grass and floral notes. Bitter finish.

Bottle. Pour is a light copper with a nice frothy head. Bready, citrus hop aroma. Flavor is right on with a unique Belgian yeast meeting a hoppy IPA. Nothing too strange going one here... all considering. Would definitly have again!

This IPA poured a medium, lightly cloudy, yellow colour with a big, bright white head with a little lacing. To the nose there are scents of weiners, yeast, spice and milk. First sip was smooth with resonable carbonation and flavours of weiners, grassy hops, cloves and cooked veggies. Finish is bitter with clove and grass flavours lingering.
