Autumn Brown Ale

Sierra Nevada uses malt within days of roasting at the peak of its flavor to give Tumbler a gracefully smooth malt character. Two-row pale, crystal 40, chocolate and smoked malts give it a malty complexity. Challenger hops in the boil add balancing bitterness, while more Challengers and some Goldings give just enough hop flavor in the finish to balance all that malt.

Bottle, 0.355l. Hazy dark brown color with thin creamy tan-like head and nice lacing. Aroma of caramel and mild roasted malt, raisins, herbal hops and notes of chocolate. Taste starts moderate sweet roasted malty and nutty, follows by refreshing dark fruits and medium bitter finish. Medium to full body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Few tumblers and you quickly start tumbling around...

Though retired. This is from notes.
The appearance had a light brown head, reddish brown body, lacing tried to cling to pint glass.
The smell had some roasted malts coming through in a smoky way, some light oak barrel woodiness to it, slight hops.
The taste was sweet, smoky, roasty through previously mentioned flavors.
On the palate, she sat at about a light to medium, fairly sessionable, smoky aftertaste and a dry finish.
Overall, this was good for the style, and good to me. I will miss it, but maybe someday Sierra Nevada will bring it out of retirement.

Keg @ Black Sheep, Dublin [210114]
Chestnut brown, clear, off white thin head
Aroma - not getting much at all, hint of fruity caramel
Taste of caramel malts, sweet caramel, toffee, some red berry fruits, bit boring for a Sierra Nevada beer
Palate - Medium carb, light body, bit too fizzy. Finish as main flavour, soft caramel, toffee
Overall - OK, nothing special

355ml bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. A deep reddish amber pour with a thick off-white head; lightly caramelised malt aroma; smooth in the mouth with some nutty malts and a light English hop bitterness. A pleasant Brown Ale that’s not too sweet.

335 ml bottle. Clear, deep amber body with a tan head. Moderate aroma of light roasted malt, caramel with a hint of chocolate and dry fruit. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, light toast, chocolate and moderate bitterness. Fine body and decent aftertaste. Not a big fan of brown ale, but this is a fine, quite tasty really smooth one within its style. Very quaffable as well.
