Autumn Brown Ale

Sierra Nevada uses malt within days of roasting at the peak of its flavor to give Tumbler a gracefully smooth malt character. Two-row pale, crystal 40, chocolate and smoked malts give it a malty complexity. Challenger hops in the boil add balancing bitterness, while more Challengers and some Goldings give just enough hop flavor in the finish to balance all that malt.

Bottle of 2011, enjoyed January 2013. Deep (red) brown color. Dense beige head that leaves good lacing. Aroma’s: toasted bread, roasted, lightly sweet with hints of spices and red fruit. Flavor is medium sweet, softly roasted. Light body. Finishes roasted & medium bitter. Very subtle & balanced and very pleasant to drink.

Oh boy... forgot about this one ! 2010 edition. Pours a hazy copper colour with lots of sediments floating around. The off-white head is creamy, frothy, long-lasting and has foamy lace. Mild malt nose with hints of nuts. Taste of malts (caramel, roasted) with some nutty and coffee notes in the finish. Pretty decent for its age. Hope I can re-try one day, with a fresh one.

Pours mahogany with creamy head, good lacing. Smells hoppy with light roast malt. High carbonation. Light sweetness and bitterness in taste. Sweetness comes off a little floral. On tap in penn station.

Slightly hazy dark brown beer, small biscuit coloured head. Creamy malt nose. Semi dry palate, airy. Dry biscuity malt. Trace of hop. Minerally carbonated bite in the dry finish. Fresh tasting but pretty dull.

Flaska från Systembolaget. Häller upp i mörk kopparfärg. Balanserad doft av både malt och humle. Smak av humle och malt utan påträngande sötma. En schysst brown ale.
