After years of commemorating our anniversary with deliciously wild and weird ales, we decided to mix it up a bit and create our first Anniversary Lager. SEVENTEEN is a celebration and case study of the aromas and flavors of German hops. And knowing our fetish for those beautiful green cones, you can be confident that the contents of this bottle are excessively hopped for your olfactory pleasure. Many thanks to all and we hope you enjoy our lupulin dissertation. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, imported German hops, and German yeast.

Bottled (thanks omhper). Deep amber, close to black colour, small beige head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is roasted malts, quite big on roasted barley and ashes. Flavour is roasted malts, ashes, mild fruityness. and mild earthy notes.

Dark brown color, small steady brownish head. Bready, even a bit toasted aroma with notes of caramel. Medium to full-bodied. Toasted, caramelly, alcohol, light smokey notes. Also raisiny, like an aged beer. I have mixed feelings with this. Not par with German rivals but has some good things.

A tall, down cascading tan head falls into the black body below. Cocoa, roast malt, some smoke and a touch of hops all play in the aroma. Nutty and roasty flavor with just a touch of bitter hop flavor. Nice one.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 12/10/10

Aroma: The nose has some dark malts, roasted malts, chocolate, molasses, and some earth
Appearance: The pour is pitch black with a light brown head and lots of lace on the glass
Flavor: The tastes is malty, roasted flavors, some chocolate, secondary earthy hops
Palate: The body is medium-full (leaning full) with a fairly fizzy carbonation, and minimal alcohol burn
Overall Impression: I found this to be a pretty interesting beer. It is a nice looking beer, with a nice flavor, and a good mouthfeel. This is one that I enjoyed. It doesn't really seem to fit one of the traditional styles, but it makes for a very interesting beer.

Bomber. Pours a very dark brown with a medium creamy light tan head that leaves good sticky lacing. The aroma is a sweet roasted malt with raisin and chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with a roasted malt with chocolate and alcohol with a nice dry finish. Alcohol present but not too overpowering, a very good schwarzbier from Avery.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, considerable hops (a la a Black IPA), and some grains. Full-bodied of flavour of roasted malt, burnt caramel, hops, a little chocolate and a little espresso - though the hops are perhaps most prominent. Really well-crafted.
