With the long awaited BBevò, Nicola Perra continues his research which started with the success of BB10, this time using Nasco sapa, an old liqueur-like wine from the area of Cagliari. It has a clean and refined aroma with hints of white grape, bitterish fruit and bitter almond and it has a clear inkling of warmth, created by the use of distinct notes of marasca cherries in spirit.
On the palate its refined and kind characteristics are confirmed as are the fruity notes of grape, marasca and bitter almond enriched with hints of herb and pepper as well as the predictable notes of dry fruit and toffee.
A "kind" barley wine, dryer than the norm but rich and warm, more similar in enjoyment to a fine cognac than a raisin wine. A classic meditation beer, it is calming and digestive. Perfect for a relaxing late evening in front of an open fire, but can also accompany mature marbled cheeses as well as chocolate based desserts, creams and jams. It is especially good with the irresistible and varied almond based cakes, the pride of artisan Sardinian confectionery.

2015 riserva bottle from King Grizzly, drunk 2/22/18.
Explosive (beer everywhere) upon opening with a large, light tan head atop a mahogany-auburn body. Strong retention.
Interesting grape acidity with dry toffee, lots of mineral, hay and earth.
Flavor is rich, malty but perfectly dry with tight carbonation and no syrup or crystal malt-like flavors/textures. Raisin, plum, toffee are rich, yet dry and long. Strong and flavorful but really nothing like a forceful American barleywine at all. More belgian strong ale. Some grape-like sharpness at points, but it's pretty low after the few years of age here. Quite nice and worth the somewhat steep price tag. Will definitely try more from this brewery.

Sampled from a 0.75l bottle @ RBNG 2014. Quite a cloudy thing this. Dark amber almost a little brown in the glass and it has a small islandy beige sidesticking top. Sweet concentrated fruits on the nose. Some yeast, red berries, lots of date sweetness. Almost a little sticky. Not to amazing honestly. It has some quite grainy flavors. Not as strong or sticky as I had hoped for or was expecting in the taste. Almost a bit watery perhaps? Prickling on the bubbles. A faint sourness also detected here. Not a worthy finisher IMO. 15.02.2014

Sampled from a big bottle at the Grand Tasting at the RBNG-event at Fredrik 3.’s Hall. Off-white head to a cloudy, dark amber coloured body. Earthy malt and vanilla sweetness on the nose. Flavoured with herbal hops, raisin, vanilla and even joined by a touch of liquorice. Bittersweet end. Noticeable alcohol. Tolerable sweet. Okay in small doses (Fredriksten festning, Halden 15.02.2014).
