Clear reddish beer. Thin head. Not much aroma at all. Flavour is light fruity malt. Not especially distinctive but solid and drinkable.

Keg at Burger Meats Bun, Edinburgh. Clear amber body with a thin beige head that slowly fades. No visible carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of marzipan, wood and nuts. Flavour of aniseed, caramel, lightly roasted malts and red apple. Thin body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. A simple, tasty beer. I’d gladly have this again.

On tap at the brewpub. Amber coloured, minimal off-white head, mild toffee/caramel nose. Toasted malt, caramel and fruity with buttery notes in the finish. Not bad.

Keg at the brewery. It pours deep ruby-amber with a small white head. The nose is earthy, toast, red berry, caramel, light sulphur and brown bread. The taste is bitter-sweet, caramel, jammy, red berry, residual sweetness, light toast and brown bread with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Simple but drinkable enough. Jammy fruit aspect is decent.

From tap, nicely served half pint at the West Brewpub. Beige tophead leaving dotted spots on the glass. Clear, near-mahogany coloured body. Pretty to look at. Roasted dark caramel malts to the nose. Brittle caramel in flavour with distant hints of red oranges towards the finish. Soft carbonated, Crispy. A rather pleasant one (Glasgow, 13.04.2012).

On tap @ the Black Cat, Rose St, Edinburgh. Pours a reddish-brown with a decent sized head that hangs around for a while. The nose has biscuits and strawberries and this is confirmed on the taste but the aftertaste on the end is quite astringent and unpleasant. The palate as noted above is decent in structure and texture but has an unpleasant finish which makes me glad I only had one to drink. Overall, unbalanced which is a shame.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is malty, slight butterish and caramelish. Flavour too has butter mixed with the caramel, slight fruity accent too. Medium sweet. Light bitterness.
