Yeastie Boys' Gunnamatta utilises judicious amounts of Earl Grey Blue Flower tea to generate an intoxicating floral and citrus aroma with the quenching dry finish of an ice tea. A truly unique new world India Pale Ale with a decidedly old world twist.

33cl bottle. Pours a semi-opaque orange with a small white head. Smells of caramel, roses, bergamot, peaches and yeast, unlike any beer I have tried before. The taste is sweet and perfumey, with notes of roses and berries (not sure which, though) and feint bergamot. Incredible beer, unlike anything I have ever tried before. Disclaimer: I am a big fan of Earl Grey tea, which is made using bergamot oil

Bottle shared with Inoven. Hazy orangy color, average sized off-white head. Aroma is lightly malts, very herbal and floral and definitely some tea. Tastes about the same: some malts, a little more average on the herbs and flowers and tea. Lightly sweet as well. Average body, soft carbonation. Nice experiment, but Iโ€™m ok with an IPA without all these weird ingredients.

Bottle. Golden color. Aroma of yeast, flowers and a little citrus. Taste of sweet buttery yeast, flowers, honey and grass. No earl grey unfortunately.

Bottle from Wholefoods, Kensington, London. A hazy golden coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Floral, citrus, earl grey tea aroma. Taste is the same, floral, citrus, earl grey tea. Quite pleasant.

Keg at the Cambridge Blue, Cambridge. Dark gold with a huge white head. Tea, vanilla, light citrus, potpourri, cotton. Slightly musty. Full spicy taste with sweetness leading the initial sip. Bitterness follows for a long balanced finish which is simultaneously floral, savoury and spiced. More sourness and musty flavours in the aftertaste, like the last teabag in the box. Incredible bordering on magical.

On tap at Kafรฉ Belgiรซ. Hazy golden yellow colour, white head. Aroma of lots of bergamot, Earl Grey tea, quite floral, soapy, urinal cake. Flavour is very floral, bergamot, tea, urinal cake, light malty, dry, citrus, bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. Nice.

Frothy white head. Lots of tea and floral hops in the nose. Modestly bitter mouth, fairly malty backbone. Decent little IPA but finish is a bit too perfumy with too much earl grey tea. Still not bad.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a clear deep gold moving into light amber. Zero head. Earl Grey tea is all over the nose with some ruby red grapefruit, grass and floral notes as well. Taste is similar: very earl grey with some lemon zest and grapefruit bitterness. Good bitterness. Body is super heavy with very little carbonation.
