Commercial description:
Piraat Tripel Hop is een licht amberkleurig bier van hoge gisting met nagisting op fles en op vat. De smaak is uitgesproken hoppig en bevat een droge afdronk. 4 extra hopsoorten worden toegevoegd aan de klassieke Piraat en de selectie hiervan verandert elk jaar in functie van de beschikbaarheid van de hopvarianten. De toevoeging gebeurt tijdens 3 verschillende fases, waarvan 1 door middel van dry-hopping, waarbij de hop (Cascade) wordt toegevoegd in de lagertank tijdens het rijpen.

750 ml bottle from Tavour. Nose is mango, papaya, candi sugar, and bubblegum. Lightly hazy amber with a big, heavy lacing, beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, and fruity. Actually nicely done.

Bottle @ De Heeren van Liedekercke. Hazy orange with a huge and lasting white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, fruity and light hoppy. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with warming alcohol. 190317

Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, BB 28/04/18, 33 cl sample. Clear golden to orange color, medium frothy head. Aroma of soapy and flowery hops, some mashed apples and a bit flowery and spicy hop. Lets say, a typical Belgian alcohol bomb. Soft bitterness, sweet mashed apples and a healthy dose of alcohol. Boring stuff, and the triple hops are nowhere to be found. Belgium does it again.

Clear medium amber colour, small frothy white head, receding slowly, heavy lacing. Aroma sweet malts, yeast, candy sugar, fruit cake. Taste heavy sweet, slightly bitter, malty, sugary, caramel, alcohol; taste continues in the aftertaste, light alcoholic bitterness in the finish, spicy notes. Full-bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, heavy duty stuff but I’m not impressed.

Shared bottle. Hazy golden-orange with an off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, mild spice and yeast. Taste is malt, spice, clove, Belgian yeast, hints of banana, and alcohol. Decent.

Pours hazy orange/amber with a huge rocky white head. The aroma contains fruits, hay, caramel, yeast and hops. It tastes medium to heavy bitter and light sweet. Long, spicy, alcoholic and hoppy finish, but not too strong on the hops. Full body, fizzy carbonation, warming.

Hazy orange color, with a small head, lacing. Aroma is yeast, hops, candi sugar. Taste is dry, spices, and alcohol, and not really hops flavors. Strong carbonation, oily texture. Not bad, but not my beer. And I don’t know where are all the hops in the name.

Bottle shared thanks to Deanso. Hazy orange with an off white head. Aroma of yeast, grassy hops, light fruits, herbs and malt. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
