Cask at Pembury Tavern. It pours darkest brown/near black with a small beige head. The nose is roasted malt, earth, dark chocolate, liquorice, treacle and ripe blueberry. The taste is mellow roast, toast, charcoal, berry, blackcurrant jam, plum, earth, liquorice and touch of alcohol warmth with a dry finish. Medium-full body and soft carbonation. Rather quaffable fruity strong stout.

On gravity at the winter beer festival, the Three Tuns, Bristol 23/2/2013. Near black with a thin tan head. Aroma of vanilla fudge, milk chocolate and some toasty malts. Flavour was sweet, with more chocolate, leading to a very smooth, dryish finish with a touch of warming alcohol. Good, but too sweet for my taste.

Cask. Black and opaque with a small beige head. Intense aroma of dried fruit and hard roasted malt. Quite full-bodied, flat, hard roasted malt, dried fruit, vanilla and wood. Sweetish finish with basically no bitterness. Pleasant. 200110

Hand bottle at home ... From the Merton Winter Beer Festival(feb ?08) ... Huge Huge Huge thanks to FIN for this ... Deep solid balck ... no head ... quit still again i suspect the hand bottling ... light roast chocolate malt ... Deep dark roasts ... Deep solid roast malts ... lots of chocolate ... some hops show through but well balanced ... some roast coffee and like others i do think i pick up a little soy sauce. 4.2 as it stands but i think its body suffers a little through the hand bottling. Cask at GRAF 2017... Dark black.. Thin tan lacing... Dark dry chocolate.. Massive licorice.. Dry chocolate roast malts nose.. Dark roast.. Light fruits.. Massive licorice.. Tiny coffee... Quite still as above but not flat.. Think i was carried away with hype before or times have changed or both 4.0
