Cask at Hops, Crewe Nose has liquorice and roast malts. As for the colour, it pours black, black, BLACK ! (see Fast Show) In the mouth it is creamy with strands of liquorice and coffee. The finish has a fruity plummyness which wasn’t present earlier, but the coffee remains as well. Nice and drinkable.

(Cask at Crown, Stockport, 24 July 2009) Pitch black colour with creamy, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Roasted, malty taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and a touch of liquorice. Medium body, creamy and well rounded with a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Lovely stout!
