On tap at The Kernel, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma smells right on point, with a melange of cocoa, vanilla and gently toasted malt. Flavour is sturdy, with big roasted malt, accentuated by tiny hints of vanillin and even tinier hints of cocoa. This is mostly a function of the nice roast, which is not too intense for the style. Nicely put together.

Pours pitch black with about one finger of greyish head, quite frothy. Pretty good retention, not much lacing. Quite good intensity in a clean, relatively simple aroma; roasted malts with vivid coffee and dark chocolate notes, a light fruity (fruit cake) background, a touch of herbal/balsamic freshness on the back of things. Taste notes follow the aroma quite closely: again a quite simple taste profile, but an excellently defined/clean and pretty vivid one. Medium to high in both sweetness and bitterness with excellent balance, and a clean, pretty dry finish, with the slighest astringent hint. Medium to dense bodied with medium or slightly below medium carbonation, semi thick and quite full, probably more than i expected for the abv, slightly creamy. A well made example of the style and a relatively easy drinker. Nice

Smells like ovaltine and westmalle dubbel, which is good by me!

Malty, roasted taste with espresso, dark chocolate, tar, liquorice, black rye bread and a generous coffee bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Solid and well made baltic porter. Very nice.

Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen (13/10/2022) - Roasty and sweet dark malty with notes of chocolate, some dark caramel and fudge sweetness, ashy light burnt earthy malts, hoppy undertones, roasted malty lingering finish. Classy and on point as always from the Kernel.
