Heavy water, or deuterium oxide, can be used in the production of atomic bombs.

During World War II, the German nuclear program was pursuing the development of an atomic bomb, and they were using heavy water as a neutron moderator in their reactors. The Allies became aware of this and launched a series of sabotage operations, including the famous "Operation Gunnerside," to destroy the heavy water production plant in Vemork, Norway.

The Allies were concerned that if the Germans were successful in developing an atomic bomb, they might use heavy water in the bomb design. The Allies also had a heavy water production facility in Canada, which was a potential target for sabotage by German agents.

Ultimately, the German nuclear program did not succeed in developing an atomic bomb, in part due to the sabotage operations against their heavy water production facilities. The first atomic bombs were developed by the United States, using a different design that did not require heavy water as a moderator.

Here we took a "heavy" stout with a hint of honey, vanilla, coconut, and chocolate, balanced by a kiss of rye in the grain, and loaded it up into a bourbon barrel. The result is nothing like water, but it does pack an explosive punch of flavor and alcohol burn.

Black with a. Large foamy tan head. Roasty with anise, molasses, faint coconut, cocoa and a boozy whiskey presence. Long finish. Full body.
