A very drinkable pumpkin ale—brewed with pumpkin puree and juice, and spiced in conditioning with ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and allspice.

Both roasted and raw pumpkin seeds are in the mash, with pumpkin added to the mash and fermenter.

Bought the pumpkin pack at grocer couldn’t resist 4 new ticks. Dark colored with smallish head. Nose is rich pumpkin pie filling and light slicing. Tastes similar. Spices are lighter and pumpkin is full on. Also get light brown sugar, caramel, rootbeer. Chewy palate.

Bomber on 6th March 2019 while on holiday in California. Slight haze to the brown body, off-white head. Pumpkin (surprise, surprise) aroma and taste, fairly sweet actually. I am no expert on Pumpkins in general let alone Pumpkin Ales, but this seems fine to me. Bit one dimensional maybe, but certainly got Pumpkin flavours.

Bottle from Beer Cats 2019 fukubukuro. Pours nice amber, bit cloudy and with some beige foam on top. Lots of pumpkin in the nose, spices like cinnamon and nutmeg also prevalent, sweetish and malty. tastes sweet, again good pumpkin character there, same spices, kind of tastes exactly how it smells, just some btter hop notes are leading to a relatively sharp finish, no particularly long linger there. Pretty solid pumpkin beer, methinks.

It's been 4 years since I last tried this beer. When I saw the pumpkin variety pack in the store, I decided it was time for me to update my review of this beer, as well as the other varieties.

12 oz. bottle, 6.7% ABV, Experience by: 02/05/2023

AROMA: Somewhat sweet with scents of brown sugar, cloves, pumpkin, allspice, and cinnamon.

APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque amber-orange. There is no head, nor any lacing.

TASTE: A bit of sharpness that is unexpected given the sweetness level of the aroma. Flavors of pumpkin, clove, cinnamon, and allspice are easily detectable without being overpowering. Nice level of pumpkin flavor with a low sweetness level. Which helps avoid the pumpkin pie in a bottle taste that most pumpkin beers go for. Finish is on the dry side with lingering flavors of clove and pumpkin.

MOUTHFEEL: Slightly above-average carbonation. Slightly rough/tacky texture. Medium-bodied.

OVERALL: I'm not liking this version as much as the 2018 vintage. The aroma seems more subdued than I remember. It no longer has a creamy-smooth texture. I think the sweetness level is too low. I'm not a huge fan of super-sweet pumpkin beers, but this one could benefit from a slight bump in sweetness. While the head of the 2018 vintage was nothing special, it was certainly better than the no head I got in this 2022 vintage. In short, I would buy the 2018 version again, but I would pass on the 2022 version.

For comparison purposes, my original review from 09/28/2018 is below, along with the rating I gave it in each category.

12 oz. bottle.

AROMA (9/10): Smells just like a pumpkin pie - pumpkin, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, cloves - it's all in there!

APPEARANCE (3/5): Pours an opaque amber-orange, with a thin, light-tan head, that dissipates quickly.

TASTE (7/10): Medium-sweet with lots of pumpkin and spice flavors.

PALATE (3/5): Full-bodied with a slightly creamy texture. Average carbonation and a moderate finish.

OVERALL (15/20): I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin beers, but I give a few of them a try every year. This is one of the better ones that I've tried. The aroma is heavenly, yet the flavor is not overly sweet. It strikes a good balance between beer and spice.

Bottle. Pours a hazy, brown color, with a small, very persistent, beige head. Allspice, dark cherries, toasted pecans, pumpkin, and light pine. Not very sweet, but nicely bitter. Medium to heavy body, with a hard, crisp feel, and clean finish. This is a really nice, subdued pumpkin beer. Solid.

Medium dark amber color. Nice pumpkin pie going on in the nose with lots of bready character under a spice rack of cinnamon and cloves. Full body, malty but not overly sweet. Spices shine, maybe too much for some people, but I drank this on Halloween and it seemed like the perfect beer for the occasion
