Bomber - bought this because of a pleasant experience with their Tripel last week - I also need to revisit their flagship quad - dark ruby - doesn’t kick up a head at first, but as it sits, it actually starts to develop a fairly thick lace - nose is toffee, plum, treacle, toasted coconut, vanilla - a bit boozy, which mixes with some underlying spiciness and doughiness that makes this smell a bit like rum balls to me - low carbonation - texture is a little watery - quite boozy when cold - this mellows out a bit as it warms, but it remains a bit boozy in the finish - quite sweet, almost syrupy - some plum - moderate toasty vanilla oakiness - a light tartness develops late, and some mild spicy and dusty yeast character breaks through momentarily - finish is mostly sweet, with fairly high heat, some muddled phenolics - not that good - hopefully my attempt at the new quandary will yield a more pleasant experience.
