Moving out of KS rate-a-poolza. 12oz bottle poured into a Big Eddy globe. Bottled on the 10th day of 2013. Best by 08/11. Purchased out of fridge in store.

My go to beer at bars where there is nothing but the standard Blvd beers. Mildly roasted and pruney aroma. Similarly in flavor with a bit of a mineral finish to lighten up the palate. Nice general purpose porter. Hops peak out a little more than I want here and there but always a safe call.

Amerikansk ja :-) Bortsett fra en sterk brent kornbitterhet, så er den allikevel ikke noen bølle. Mer kuriositet enn repeterbar, egentlig.

Bottle. It pours a clear-looking reddish dark brown body under a dense, finger-thick light beige head that lasts for a while and leaves nice lacings. The aroma has that lovely blend of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, mixed with a vague touch of dried fruits, caramel and malty sourness. Licorice too maybe. It’s full-bodied and soft on the palate, and a tad too much carbonated I think. There’s a pleasant hoppy bitterness and notes of piney hops in the flavor, with roasted malts, coffee, chocolated and sweetness. Still, it feels rather dry on the palate. Some pleasant sourish hints towards the bitter and roasted finish. Certainly a beer I’ll buy more of, it’s tasteful and pleasant, and dangerously easy drinkable. 130326

355ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Stokmarknes. Persisting fawn-coloured head leaving spotty lacework to the glass. Clear, deep ruby dark coloured body. Dark malty smell of star anise and cocoa. Similar taste of cocoa, aniseed, ash and almond. Roasted malty ending, bittersweet. A medium bodied porter that was quite tasty and easy to drink (Stokmarknes, 02.03.2013).

Dark Black. Thinner than expected. Bitter. Hoppy, leaves just a slight sweet and creamy after taste. Good.

Medium beige head. Clear, deep dark red body with light carbonation. Roasty earthy spicy aroma with raisins and chocolate notes. Dryish earthy roasty taste with spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry roasty spicy licorice aftertaste with soy sauce and chocolate notes. Lingering harshly bitter spice finish lingers. It’s nice, but not great. (0.355l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

35,5cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Storo. Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Roasty aroma with coffe, chocolate, malt and notes of dark fruits, hops and caramel. Sweet and roasty with nice dark flavours and a pleasant bitterness in the somewhat finish. Medium body with average carbonation. Sweet and lightly bitter aftertaste with hoppy notes and hints of smoke. Pleasant and easy to drink.

Pours mahogany-tinged brown into an English pint. Tan head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Caramel and mineral aromas. Dry and medium bodied with smoky chocolate and caramel upfront turning to warm cafe latte in the lasting bitter finish.
