Pours a thick black with small head. Aroma primarily of roasted (toasted) malt. Flavor is very smooth, with coffee, burnt toast, some chocolate, and fairly noticeable hops in the background (rather unusual for a porter?). It’s a very comfortable, warming, winter type of beer.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into an English Pint. Pours black with about 3 fingers of light tan head. Aroma of pine hops, light chocolate and coffee. Taste is light bitter. Very hop-oriented porter. Lots of pine with a bit of coffee and chocolate. Medium bodied with thick texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, pretty good. I would drink it again.

bottle - Pours very dark brown with a big tan head. The fairly mild aroma is of roast malt and coffee. It has a full flavor of dark roast malt, chocolate, and coffee. This full bodied porter leaves lingering roast coffee flavors on the palate. Solid effort.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 7/19/11
Aroma: The nose has some roast, coffee, chocolate, and caramel
Appearance: The pour is brown-black with a foamy light brown head
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, some roast, and with a fairly dry/bitter finish
Palate: The body is fairly fizzy on the mouith, a touch salty, and with a dry, puckering finish
Overall Impression: Overall, this was actually a fairly interesting one. From the nose, I was expecting it to taste completely different then it did. That dry, almost mouth puckering, finish really came out of nowhere... I don't even really know how I feel about this one, but bonus points for surprising me!

12 oz bottle into English pint. Pours a deep, deep brown--almost black--with a large beige head with great retention; leaves spidery lace from the top of the pour line all the way down. Aroma is roasted caramel malt, dirty dishwater. Taste is bittersweet--more bitter than most porters--and a bit sour. Carbonation is medium-high, body is medium-full, finish is fairly long and bitter. Decent.
