On tap. Hazy orangey brown with a creamy off-white head. The aroma is dominated by wood and tart fruit. Solid body, woody accents, notes of tart herbal cough syrup, sweet caramel and salt. Very alcoholic finish. Quite a complex blend, very interesting if not exactly perfect. 200610

Handbottled. An unclear brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma Has notes of malt, alcohol, and lots of caramel. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of caramel, alcohol, grapes, and malt as well as lesser notes of wood and a touch of brettanomyces, leading to a dry lightly tart finish.

From tap at Mikkeller Bar. Pours cloudy to hazy deep amber with a bubbly and white head. Aroma is fruity, dark malty, acidic, wineous and wooden. Sweet, fruity, wineous and mild acidic flavoured. Lingering fruity and slight phenolic. Dense malty. Lingering fruity, vague acidic and wooden. Lovely. For a barley wine this seems young, knowing this is a blend explains that.
