This little critter make look pale but it has a smoky smooth richness that is always associated with darker Christmas beers. A subtle sweetness from the lactose balance hints of beech, chocolate and liquorice from a variety of malts. Wheat is added to bulk up the beer for plenty of mouthfeel and a satisfying silky finish. Pleasant citrus and peppery notes round off this beer, courtesy of high alpha American hops. Let your eyes deceive you and enjoy an Xmas treat.

Cask at Cambridge Blue. Clear deep golden color, few large bubbles. Subtle floral aroma. Taste has a slight edge of earthy roast but you have to have a bit of imagination. A near miss.

[Cask at the White Horse, Hedgerley.] A bright amber pour with a ring of white head; tropical fruit aroma; soft and smooth in the mouth with tropical fruit and citrus flavours and a touch of caramel; then some liquorice in the finish. Nicely balanced and a bit of a surprise as I was expecting a Golden Ale rather than a White Stout.

Cask-conditioned at the Prince of Wales, Chippenham 7/12/2018. Golden in colour, with a tight and creamy , white, head. Sweet, slightly toasty malts, lactose, a hint of chocolate and liquorice before a sweet and toasty finish. Enjoyable.
