Cask at the Hope, Carshalton. It pouts darkest ruby with a bubbly beige head. The nose is rich coffee, toast, earth, treacly sweetness and dirt. The taste is bitter, earthy, roasty, coffee, dirt, toast, pepper and dark chocolate with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Massive coffee action. Decent.

500ml bottle - a dark brown pour, tan head, lacing all the way. Aroma not fantastic, very feint, a bit of coffee sticks its presence in but not by much. A dry smoky taste, a bit of roast nuts, coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice aftertaste. Not bad, but I expected and hoped for much better.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol November 2012. Near black in colour with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of black coffee, dark fruits and a touch of grassy hops. Flavour had roasted malts, dark chocolate and more fruit, leading to a dryish finish. An enjoyable porter.
