Cask at the Hillsborough Hotel. Beautiful smoky aroma with a gorgeous smoky liqourice flavour. Some spicy bitterness on the palate. A lovely session ale packed with lots of chewy flavours. A real find.

Cask at CPK, London. Pours dark, ruby-brown with a light, filmy head. Cocoa, roasted malts, and hints of fruits in the nose. Light sweet flavor, dry roasted chocolate malts, some prune. Light to medium in body with soft carbonation. Dryish, roasty finish, slightly oily, cocoa, character seems to fade a bit too quickly. Some earth hops to linger, though. Alright stuff.

Cask at the CP&K. Very dark brown pour with a beige head. Coffee, dark chocolate and toffee flavours. Coffee, chocolate, light smoke and butterscotch flavours. Sweet, dry finish. Nice.

Cask, handpump at the Cask & Kitchen Sat 4th June 2011 Pours very dark brown with a tiny film of tan bubbles. Some light coffee grains in mouth and a light roasty feel throughout but to be honest this lacks a little life and as a result it unfortunately it came across as a little thin. However there is clearly a good beer here, but maybe with the multitude of choice (it was after all a Mikkeller evening) this one was probably not quite in tip-top condition. I look forward to trying again as Raw have produced some very good beers. Quite strong roasty flavours, with a gritty powdery cocoa some coffee and reasonable bitterness. There is nothing wrong with this but it just isn’t really my thing. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1
